don't fully understand chapter progression

what exactly does progressing in a chapter do? open up new quests?

i'm in chapter one and i'm worried i have to like explore the whole map and do all quests because i might not be able to do them if i go on to chapter 2.

Is this how it works? I'm level 8 btw.

oh, and how does time affect this game? would anything happen if i were to sleep like 50 days in a row lets say?

I don't think any quests break until ch3 or 4, but new quests (and sometimes lands) do show up.

Other than a quest or two, I'm not aware that time affects you here at all.
