TToEE Area of the Week at Gamebanshee

Please beat me with a stick and call me names: I forgot to inform you that the Area of the Week feature for Greyhawk: The Temple of Elemental Evil has been updated this weekend at Gamebanshee, as every weekend. They even sent us the mail, but somehow I was unable to spot it between all this mortgage and viagra spam we receive. Anyhow: this time, they introduce you to even four regions (since they won't update next weekend), and these are from the second Dungeon of Elemental Evil - the Grim Chamber, the Hall of Triumphal Evil, the Cistern Chamber, and the Reception Hall.

You still haven't figured out they're just copy/pasting copyrighted material out of the old ToEE module? Amazing. And it's illegal too. I'm sure they're happy for your continual promotion. If all fansites could just rip text from the copyrighted sources they'd have a much easier job. Show some respect for those of them who don't and stop this promotion.

I suggest you complain at GameBanshee, not here. I have no way to tell if this is illegal or not, since I don't have access to the original material.

Of course it's illegal. Copy/pasting anything out of any book is illegal. That's what the word "copyright" means. Why on earth would you need access to the book to know that? Modules are sold in stores, they're not free-to-copy. And I'm not WoTC so even if I complained it's not as if they'll stop doing it on my account. Especially not with them getting exposure at RPGDot all the time. I don't know if you haven't noticed, but RPGDot is the only news site which links to this. Everyone else knows very well what they're doing, so they don't.

Think for a second: In order for me to know I would have to own the book or the modules. I don't. And if noone but RPGDot is reporting about this feature, what would you make out of this link: http://www.rpgplanet.com/news/#PQN425790
????

Once again: Please complain at Gamebanshee. Or tell WOtC. Stop being rude here. That's all I am asking for. In the meantime, I will investigate the issue.

I'm the one who updates the "Areas of the Week" section at GameBanshee, and I can assure you that we have full permission to do what we're doing. I personally asked WotC, Troika, and Infogrames for permission *well* before this feature began. In fact, they are more than happy to see us running the feature. The 1st Edition AD&D module is nearly 20 years old, and our posting of a small fraction of the areas from the module is only helping to promote their game. This feature is far from blatant copyright infringement.

In that case, I am even more happy that I don't know what "everyone else knows very well".
