Boiling Point: Sequel in Development
   

<a href="http://www.deep-shadows.com/en/news.php?id=28" target="_blank">Deep Shadows</a> site has news a sequel to Boiling Point: Road to Hell is in development:<blockquote><em>Currently the Deep Shadows team are hard at work on the sequel to the RPG/Action game Boiling Point.

Great news, BP:RTH was one of the best action games released last year. I am truely looking forward to the next in the series. Let's hope saul meyers idiotic daughter is not back again for the second!

Some more rpg elements would be nice, instead of making all the weapon upgrades the same they could put some variation in, kind of like how jagged alliance allowed the player to extend rifle barrel's etc.

Some more stealth elements would be nice too, and perhaps some adjustments to the faction system, I never liked how even if you completed a mission without being seen you still took a large faction hit.

It certainly had/has alot of potienal.

That was weird how they turned her into twit at the end of the game, which seemed completly oppsite of how they protrayed her at the beginning and the middle.

Yeah that was annoying, i mentioned it to them and they at least acknowledged it as a weakness, hopefully they sort it out.

The best example I had of this was when I was on close to the final mission for the CIA they asked me to asassinate the leader of the guerilla's - I was friendly with the guerillas at the time. Instead of wading in guns blazing I figured I would try the more secretitive option. I found a secluded area near the church and pulled out my sniper rifle and popped him at around about 2km range through his window (which had the blinds drawn - a hell of a shot if I don't say so myself). No one even saw this act and when I returned to the CIA I took a HUGE faction hit, something in the order of going from +66 to -80. It would have been cool if I had of just got a small hit (maybe they suspected it was me but had no hard evidence).

Wow, that sounds like an awesome solution to the quest! which kinda makes it all the more painfull that your relations get screwed. The time i remember most was when i took out an entire Guerilla base with stealth only to report back and see my relations go down. It doesn't happen in every case though.

I can see how it could be possible for a faction to find out about your wrong doings. It would be cool if, when completing a mission there is some kind of check against your faction relations to see if anyone sells you out. So the higher your relations the less chance they'll find out. You could then have extra dialogue options like: "i want to make sure no one finds out about this, *hand over 5000 pesos*" making it less likely they'll talk.

Also, you could get someone call you on your mobile trying to bribe you.

Wasn't the original Boiling Point released unfinished (more or less)? Did they ever patch it to respectable level? If not, I'm not really sure how happy I am about hering of a sequel when they never finished the original.

Provided you have the final patch installed the bugs are greatly reduced. I would still recommend making a save at the start of any mission and quick saving often. I think I had 1 or 2 critical bugs when i played through, one was when I did a quest in the wrong order (I had to leave the entire area and come back to let the target respawn).

It they use the same engine in the sequel I have great hopes for it, as it should give them the time to fix the remaining kinks in it and hopefully optimise the graphics a bit. After you get past the bugs and small annoyances the boiling point engine and freeform design of the game was really great.
