Old School RPGs Still Hold Wonder @ Yahoo! |
|
Yahoo! News has an article titled Old-School RPGs Still Hold Wonder. While it mentions Ultima and Wizardry in passing, if 'Chrono Trigger' or similar doesn't top your list you may want to move on:
What's the greatest video role-playing game of all time?

I could make convincing arguments for "Xenogears," "Chrono Trigger" or "Phantasy Star." Each has the epic sweep, the time- and space-spanning sense of wonder that many of us crave from the genre. "Xenogears," for example, involves no less than the death of God. Of course, "Final Fantasy" and even "Pokemon" have their partisans, and old-timers recall the blocky eight-bit graphics of computer RPGs like "Ultima" and "Wizardry" with awe.
|

I can't believe they are calling those console games old-school rpgs and ignoring the real rpgs. They obviously don't know what a real rpg is... |

I'm not a big fan of console RPG's because i never owned a ps or gc. Perhaps they are not that bad and for consoleros they may be classics but not for me. |
