What is the best watch? ~poll~ |
|
My father told me this riddle ~or whatever~ and I liked to tell it to ya:
You've 3 different types of watches and you have to pick up one, what you will choose?
~1 A broken watch. (Don't work, for example:
The time on the watch is 09:00 after 1 hour it will still the same!
~2 A watch which advanced 30 minutes from the real time. (For example:
The real time is 09:00 in this watch ~in the same time~ it will be 09:30)
~3 A watch which is late 30 minutes from the real time. {For example:
The real time is 09:00 in this watch ~ in the same time ~ it will be 08:30)
What is your choice?
Am gonna post the best choice and the explanations after 14 day ~the poll limit~ _________________ <Sigh>.Time.Passes.Quickly. </Sigh>

the second one because, if you are on a date you will look at the watch and find it 30minutes later but you won't know that, so you will get faster. _________________

Well, a broken watch will tell the correct time twice a day, but if your watch is a fixed amount slow or fast and you know what that amount is, that's much, much more useful to you. I'd go for the fast watch, because it might scare me into getting places on time... for once.
I suggest giving "your" answer much earlier than 14 days hence. In two weeks we won't remember that this thread even existed, as some of us have memories of goldfish, and are often distra... Oh, hey! Shiny thing!

Ok little votes...
The right answer is the broken watch...
The reason:
The broken watch can be at least two times right in the day, for examble:
The watch stopped at 09:30 it'll be two times right in the day--->09:30 PM
, 09:30 AM..
The winner is cfmdobbie---{Congrats} _________________ <Sigh>.Time.Passes.Quickly. </Sigh> |

That doesnt make any sense.
How could the 1st watch be any use at all? Sure, technicaly its correct twice a day, but:
1. It would only be correct for 2 seconds out of a 24hr day.
2. You would never know exactly when those two seconds occured.
3. If somehow you did know, then you dont need the watch in the first place.
The 2nd and 3rd Watches are infinately more useful. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

Because your definition of "useful" is different from the poster's one. |

Useful has only one definition. But there was not "useful" in riddle question. Well, there was not correct question at all. Because "you must choose best watch" is really not a good question. It is just matter of what "best watch" means to you. |

When ever we would act surprised that my Dad was right about something, he'd shrug and say "Even a broken clock is right twice a day".
I had to laugh about that - I was on the phone w/ my wife and she asked me the time so I glanced up at the grandfather clock we own and said 12:10. A few seconds later I sputtered out "Wait, that is wrong, that clock has been dead for a week, the real time is ... " a pause while I ran to another room and back "12:10. Wow. It *is* true - my Dad was right!". She knew exactly what I meant and we both had a good laugh. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

I would be very interested to see what kind of definition could exist that could give any use whatsoever to that watch....
I will concede if there is one single example of that watch being useful as a timepiece. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

what good will that do?? you still dont know when its right or not, cause you probably know your watch is dead
another reason why the second and third watch are better, is that you can set the time correct, but you need to repair the broken one, before you can do anything with it |
