Do you get encumbered at all in Gothic? It seems like I'm running slower? Thanks!

I think there should be a limit how much you can carry in future versions of gothic. It would just add some realism.

yes or a limit on certain things, like you can only have one armour in your inventory at any one time, 2 swords and 1 ranged weapon and so on

This leads to the question if we want realism.

Imagine your char had to eat at least once a day. Would this increase or decrease the fun? It adds to the realism but itīs annoying.

I think correct answer to your quoestion is yes and no.Realism is needed when it adds "you are there" feeling I suggested carrying limit, cause i feel that no-one could carry 200 potions, 100 swords, 20 bows, 5 armors, all the food and herbs you have collected during your journey even if this is just a game.Infact this would be a great way to echance the gameplay.Lets think about it a moment. You are going to leave a camp to search some focus stones, what would you take with you?Lets say you could only carry 1 armor 2-3 closecombat weapons depending their size&weight, 1 bow or crossbow, few rings&amulets, some potions or other items you, that you think would become handy on your journey. One the biggest problem was that you could allways have that big massive inventory of potions and food with with you. That is why there were only few moments later on the game when i actually felt i was in danger.

An other great addition to realism theme: I liked very much in Deus Ex, if JC happened to drink too much booze or wine He got drunk like me in real life .By the way in DX there was this inventory thing i talked earlier.I really had to think hard wich items/weapons are vital for me and wich are not.THEY also determined my playing style(with skills of course).Do you think this kind of realism is a bad thing?

I agree however, that things like player has to repair his/her weapons, will become only annoying in the long term.Same goes with that eating thing you said(alltought I could imagine in some cases it would be quite fun to hunt your own food).

mabye if all of the afformentioned things could be turned on and off, or adding difficulty settings which had the certain limits and things you had to do

hehe indeed DX was a great game but a little correction there was a inventory limit but all those things u could find there u couldent sell them to get money for it /me is waiting allready for 2 part of DX btw great game

and ppl just think about it if u go and attack some big camp with orcs/bandits and if u have inventory limit u cant take all that stuff u can get from there to sell it in some city and get money for it .

Yes, like in Fallout or something. That would add some realism, but don't take away so much from the fun.
