Gothic 2 & Night of the Raven: International Release Upd |
|
Gorath from our network site GothicDot has done some research and found out the following about the release of Piranha Bytes' 'Gothic II' and its expansion 'Night of the Raven' in various territories...

1) A 'Gothic' Collector's Edition with all three 'Gothic' games ('Gothic I', 'Gothic II' and 'Gothic II: Night of the Raven') and a poster has been released in Germany today for EUR 29.99.

2) Koch Media has released 'Gothic II' in Italy a few weeks ago. The add-on will come in April. Language: Italian. Source: http://press.jowood.com/
The expansion has the Italian name "La Notte del Corvo". The expected retail price is only ~EUR 20.00. Source: Anonymous mail from an Italian reader.

3) France will get (an English?) 'Gothic II' with French subtitles on March 25 through Bigben Interactive. Add-on and Gold Edition will follow later this year. Source: http://www.dagonslair.com/en/ (scroll down).

4) Nobilis Iberica will ship an English 'Gothic II' with Spanish subtitles on February 20 or March 11. They also mentioned they want to ship 'Night of the Raven' later this year. Source: Our 'Gothic II' forums (thanks, a24710). |

Gothic 2 + addon in france |
|
seems there will be 3 releases in France (english with french subtitles) :
- Gothic 2
- Gothic 2 : La nuit des Corbeaux (don't know if the title will be translated)
- Gothic 2 with the expansion pack (Gothic Gold ?)
I'm not sure if such an old (but good!) game will sell enough to bear 3 releases...

while I am happy to see these international releases I am also uneasy about it.
Still no mention of a NA release of notr and that is good in my opinion. They have missed the preverbial boat. I would hate to see sales so dismal that they punish us with a delayed or non existant NA release of G3.
I know I would never buy the expansion in english. the translation team did a fantastic job in a very timely manner.
As for the other releases in various countries I don't know how long they have waited or already had g2, or how demanding the industry is for new products. I hope it proves successful.

It was already mentioned that Atari is not planning to release NotR in North America.
Good news or not? I don't care anymore, as this is a three-year old game after all. |

This could be a 10 year old game and it would still be worth buying if it came out. NOTR looks like a superb expansion to what is *still* the single most immersive RPG you can get. |

Maybe because there is no distributor or publisher for an English version ?! JoWooD canīt move boxes. They probably only got the North American rights back last week when the deal with Fluent Entertainment was canceled. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
