A message titled "Severe" saying "There is an error reading the disc. Please contact Pete Hines at *insert a number*" appears after the installation wizard's started...
At first I thought this could be a glitch in the CD, but the same message appeared when I tried to install the construction kit. The same thing happened at three different computers where the only thing common among them is that they're all running Win XP. Also tried copying the CD to harddisk before installing, no luck :/

Can't be windows XP. I'm running windows XP service pack 1 and morrowind works perfectly.
I haven't got a clue what it could be, sorry.

I'm also running XP without any problems.
Sounds like you need to take the game back to where you bought it for an exchange.

from what i heard, Pete is the lead bug chaser for Bethsoft and for crit errors, like yours, those messages typically will come up. bethsoft has said if you see them ingame and your game still runs, fine... its no problem. but if you encounter errors like that upon installation you most likely have a bad disc and need to return it.
