My theory on the whole ordeal.........The Sleeper was...uhh...sleeping untill the mages tried to make the barrier, he woke up on the wrong side of the void and got all mad. So he was like "Oh hell no your not trapping me in here without hearing about it" So he made the barrier bigger and trapped the mages too for messing around. Then he spread the seeds of this magical plant around the swamp with the Loonies found and decided to toke up on, this so-called "swampweed" was the Sleeper's way of possesing people. Why did he want people to go crazy? So they would kill the annoying mages that woke him up of course! All he wanted was revenege, so he wouldn't let anyone out of the barrier untill the mages where dealt with, then he was gonna destroy the barrier himself and go back to sleep, but NNOOOO, here comes the Hero -just as he was preparing his army of crazed novices to go whipe out the mages- and screwed everything up!
The mages are the real bad guys dammit! They were just as P'd off as the Sleeper was because they got trapped!They only want revenge.So they planned on using the ore mound to blow up the colony, not the barrier!! But Xardas was like "No don't do it" So he got kicked out of the group -he didn't leave of his own free will-
At some point he started to study Necromancy so that he could bring everyone back, after the mages did their dirty work. But in fact he thought the Sleeper was evil also, NOONE knew the truth except Cor Kalom, and his crazed followers. Cor Kalom was promised a life-time supply of this magic herb "swampweed" AND eternal life in the Sleepers own netherworld for helping him.
What about Gomez and the Old Camp? Why was he trying to collect ore? To pay his chickies of course, he was just tryin to have a good time, and he let the whole Old Camp get some from them daily. THAT'S WHY NONE OF THEM WANTED TO ESCAPE.
How do I know all this? I DON'T! I JUST WENT "MAD" AND WROTE THIS DIARY YOU ARE READING NOW WHILE I WAS TRAPPED UNDER THE TEMPLE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i'm confused....and yet intrigued....a most excellent theory, gomez. even though it's senseless and unncecessary, you sold me with the chaos aspect.

Thanks for the warning my friend...but why not? Might I offend the chicks of the forum? Hehe you'll have to excuse me, I'm sorry and will not use that bad word again. Anywho I have shared my theory with you now come with me into the "Diary of a Madman"
I have been thrown into this prison, and left to die.
I have been given this letter, and noone questions why..
I tell you now. I have been sent by the King.
To investigate a strange happening.
The barrier has grown, so in I'm thrown.
To find the meaning of this strange thing.....
I crawl from the water, my landing place.
Only to be greeted by a punch to the face.
You dare hit me? The king's right hand man?
I should tell you the truth! But you wouldn't understand.
Also I have been instructed to play dumb, so keep quit I must.
Now here comes Diego...he seems like a man I can trust.
"I have a letter for the Mage of Fire, now lead me to him!"
"Calm down" he says, "You've only just been thrown in..."
Now here I lay
At the end of my first day.
Among the rude guards and lowly diggers.
This quest of mine, will take some time.
And I shall be all alone.........that figures.....

Although I cannot tell you his name....this I can...
His mission is of the highest priority..
Oh ya....this man.......is me....
Why did I reveil this all to you?
Tell the truth of what I must do??
I know not, but I do know that I must succeed!!
But I'm starting to feel a bit....crazy....it must be the swampweed...
Oh well, no matter now I must sleep.
I trust you all with this secret you must keep....

But I'm the king's only hope! Although his "hope" is now getting high....
As I toke up on this swampweed
I am as happy as can be.....

How about this.
The Sleeper is powerful, but not as powerful and resilient as thirteen mages together. When the spell for the barrier was started, the Sleeper immediately sensed that something was wrong. It started to resist the magic.
Surprised, but not knowing their magic was being resisted by a magical creature, the 13 mages put all their energy in to complete the barrier. This final push overwhelmed the Sleeper and knocked it out, but the final amount of energy was actually enough to form a much much larger barrier. |
