Fallout Developers Profile @ NMA

NMA has kicked off a new feature showcasing Fallout Developers Profiles. First up they have some some shots of the Fallout core dev team and the Fallout Tactics team but the centre piece is the profile of J.E. Sawyer (for Van Buren), which I found an excellent read:
What specifically inspired Fallout for you? What were the biggest influences?

I have an inexplicable desire to take convoluted mechanics and make them elegant. Seeing GURPS throwbacks in Fallout makes me cringe to this day. If you enjoy game systems where armor both makes you more difficult to hit and reduces damage against you, I’m very sorry, but please throw yourself into a volcano.
Thanks, Odin.
