How to get NPCs fighting?

How do I get the darned NPCs to fight?

When I insert them they usually just start walking away... to some pre-designated waypoint.

The closest I got is by changing the guild of someone in a group to a beast, like 'scavenger' or something like that. That causes a fight, alright... but it's everyone pouncing on that one guy! So he's dead in less than a second.

I thought I could direct the AI to a specific spot... it turns out I was directing my own character, not the NPC.

Oooookay, it's a bit tricky. First, depending on what you want, look for a place where one opponent lives, anyway, so he won't run, and where the other one can't run away fast enough. Insert the guy who lives at the place first. If he's immortal, change his flag. Then insert the other guy. If they are enemies, a fight should start. If not, changing guilds will help just as you said. If they still won't fight, provoke one (preferrably the stronger one) by possessing the weaker enemy and hitting the other guy once. Switch back to your 'referee' body and watch them fight...

Oh... that's it? I thought maybe there was some secret edit code which prepared them to fight each other, and they'd start a fight on cue, when you press a key or something!

I tried possesing and taunting by punching the opponent, but he didn't even respond. I kept punching until he fell... but that's not really an NPC fight. Hmmm... so no easy way around it eh?

I think Jaz explained it more detailed in one of her 'Fight Night' threads.

I tried looking for a thread on this. Haven't come across it yet. Would you know if it was under 'tips & tricks'. If you miraculously still remember the title of the thred, that would be a great help too.

I think the threads are in Gothic General.

All four or five Fight Night threads had Fight Night in their titles... with the exception of the first one, and yes, they were in Gothic General.

I managed to get some fighting going on between the ore barons. Gomez was defeated twice... both times by Scar! But of course Gomez creamed him 8 out of 10 times.

The rankings are:
1. Gomez
2. Scar
3. Raven
4. Arto
5. Bartholo

Matches last between 1 to 5 seconds. Whoosh! Fast!

Nice, dude!
Try to get the magicians to fight too. That would be awsome!

Hey, thanks Jaz. I'll check that out ASAP.

But I just want to say that I've come to the conclusion that the Ore Barons are the most powerful dudes in Gothic. None of the mages can stand up to any of them. In fact, Nobody in any camp can! Gor Na Toth comes close, with a 30-70 chance of winning against Scar. Cor Angar, surprisingly, is pathetic! New Campers are just poofs!

Mage vs. Mage Old Camp
Torrez loses 90% of the time against any mage!
Rodriguez beats Torrez with weak... but continuous bolts of fire.
Haven't tried some combinations yet, like Corristo vs. Milten.
