Some thoughts:
1. About the color/light thing: I think that Gothic 2 was a lot more colorful than the first one, and it did really look much better. The graphics was stunning sometimes, like the loading picture when you enter the new world, which looked like a screen-shot.
2. Count me into the people who was disappointed by Diego's voice, but also wonders why you couldn't get the original guy.
3. I hope that G3 will start from scratch again, somehow, but I saw in an interview that someone from PB said "If you eant to play as a superhero, wait for Gothic 3" or something like that.
4. Lastly, why do the ending chapters always have to take part in spooky caves and dungeons, with lots of undead and other unpleasant surprises? It scares me! _________________

Glad you brought the load screen up, Toaster. When you look at that you see the valley of mines. Except with one little difference : You 're standing on the place where you get the first focus stone. (where the novice Nyras has gone mad) This was a pretty big dissapointment to know that we (the gamers) could never get that screen shot. It also means that the PB actually meant to enrichen the valley of mines. Not making everything beyond your reach with a big Orc pallisade or a devastating earthquake.

Yes, the only non-hostile creature by now is the sheep, and it feels a bit strange. _________________

congrats for such great games and hope to see another few in the series before i grow out of rpg's
seriously now g2 is much improved compared to g1 but it still misses that "i dont know what". mabe inspite your tryes to make it as nonlinear as possible... u could have done a little bit more i mean, even though u have some options you still preety much have to do what u have to do otherwise u're just loosing time. i know the game has to flow somwhere but.. for example i would have liked some more options when i had to repare the eye of innos; the dragons should have been more locvacious if i may say so (mabe also a certain order in killing them). also a little bit more action in the brothel! and i dont mean that kind of action but a little bit more involvement in the plot. except from jack (and that nice fmv..) there's nothing there.
as i played the game, many "improvements" came to mind but now i forgot most of them. that in itself is a prove that, all shortcomings aside, g2 is a GREAT game.
i know! i should be hanged for criticising the best rpg i ever played but.. i cant help it! the story has so much potential!
i do hope that the addon is at least at the same level. as for G3... oh la la! i cant wait!
advice: the light(s) in front of the brothel shoul have been RED! please fix that in future releases if there will be any places of.. pleasure. |

Hi to the developers , and since everyone else has heaped deserved
praise upon your soulders I'll refrain from prolonging this one by repeating
variations of what you have already heard (but the fact that now its 10:00
p.m here in Greece and I'm risking a lot of vicious glances from my
employers when I write this at the office would give an indication of what I
think about your game..).
Anyway we are all as you can see breathleasly awaiting for the addon (Atari
wouldn't dare...) and its a perfect opportunity to start salivating over the
prospect of Gothic III, so:
a) When are ya going ta spill the beans about the new Graphics engine (go
codecreatures go Code... ahem ) ?.
b) Are you going to deliver on the "public demand" for more ambience
(normal wildlife variation and behaviour) ?.
c)And Most important of all, do you think that you will be able to sustain
the "feel" of the first 2 games through to number 3 ?. By that I mean not
only the interactivity, the Action-Rpg-adventure approach, the Npc AI and
the medieval feel of the world, but also the realistic-"there is a whole world
out there" feeling that the seamless "loaded at once" approach of the
gothics gives you. I understand that you are going to take the game to the
mainland now and that (hopefully) would mean a dramatic increase in
landmass. But I still have the hope that large chunks of landmass
(perhaps )could still be seamlessly loaded and connected with loading
zones to the others in your new engine as you have already done in #2
(and that could give us what 5-6 newworld sized land areas ?, OK I'll stop
drooling ).
thanks for bearing with my rambling,
J.N
P.S
Since Kairo is particularly active in this thread, I would like to give my two
cents about the music. I think praise about your music Kairo is totally
deserved and that it (the music) is a wonderfull example about the type of
innovative and unique approach in game elements in the Gothics that
combined to draw people like me back to CRPGs and computer gaming in
general (In my "advanced" age of 24 I had started to despair that the last
good one was going to be planescape torment but then there came,
seemingly out of nowhere, Gothic 1 ). The dynamic features and thematic
variation of your musical approach makes it (for me at least) an
inseparable element to the overall atmosphere. I prefer that
it is not an endless unchanging epic fanfare(easily becoming annoying and
being disabled in the end) but a subtle atmospheric soundscape expertly
matched (or actually imprinting on)to every location's atmosphere. The
mentions of an orchestra (more dynamic range, yeah) makes me very
happy but I for once would like to see the same philosophy continued
through to #3.
Also now that we mention sound, is the addition of a separate voice volume
slider at all possible ?. Its just that the sound levels to achieve the best
possible enviromental ambience (wind and rain and bird calls sound OK on
my surround), mean that the voices are booming all around me from all
the speakers. Could a patch fix it for #2 (prob not since it would have
already been done but thought I'd give it a shot).
Sorry for making the postscript longer than the actual post but sound is a
very important game aspect for me (thats why I dished out 300 euros for
an Audigy 2 and 6.1 speakers) and G2 has not let me down. |

I'm curious to know, if you browse the forums you will surely have noticed many people offering to do voice recordings for free, alot of them do seem serious, what is your opinion on this? think you'll actually hire the fans to do the recordings for gothic 3? _________________ =High Shadow of the RPGDot Shadows=
