Um, ok, so I put my sword into the heart of the 5th heartstone and the sleeper was sent back to his dimension and after a few cheap words and a 12 second cutscene the credits popup and the game ends? The game of Gothic is all about rewards, and making a reputation so u can get great things... and the ending blew chunks... Am I the only one that sees a problem with this? The game was great but the ending sucked horribly. About halfway through the game the purpose for me playing the game became to get out of the barrier and get revenge on the SOB that put me in there, and even Lee the merc master swears revenge when he gets out, not to mention you piss off the mages of water and steal Gomez throne (optional) but you dont get to enjoy it or wage war with the world that condemed you to a pointless life in a giant bubble! Im thinking sequel and it better be d***ed good after this crap. Anyone feel the same way? plz post.

The ending was a letdown, and dropping you to the desktop was a monumentaly stupid idea but there has been a sequal/expansion to the gothic world announced, so at least the story will continue. That sadly isn't an excuse for a bad ending, the game should have a good ending on its own merits. Hopefully in the sequal they won't run out of funding and refuse to patch the game properly (or at all for the majority of the world, yes I know about the english vers. including some patches). I'm also hoping that the editing tolls for modding will be released for the non-german speaking world as not doing so is a bit unfair and leaves you with a feeling of dissapointment, not somthing you should want tied in with your game. |
