Chromanin/Stranger quest

Ok, I have the first book and have made no sense out of it. So, I read the Gothic FAQ12 download. I've also done a search here for the answer. I have had no luck.

I can't find the 2nd book. I made a copy of the map given out previously that is similar to the Focus Search. I am at the Shaman Tower where it says the 2nd book is. There is only a funky-hatd-to-get-to-the-top tower there. I can't jump uop the one board because it's too angled. As I was searching the place I came across a switch. I hit it and the ground crumbled. I feel down into the rubble into a room with a stone golem. I found my way back up with the other switches but I am at a loss as to where the 2nd book is.

If it is up at the top of the tower, how do I get to it? Am I in the wrong place?

TIA ~T

(Sorry, I am a bit long winded.)

The book is on top of the tower. Try some transformation spells.

I made a map with all the locations.

Yes! Yes! I have that map, so I know where they all are. Nice work, btw. I just can't make it to the top of the darn tower. I tried 'bloodfly' but they don't fly up. I'm going to figure it out, but I need a push in the right direction........or mebbe a shove would work better. LOL

Several of your items have helped me, btw. Thank you.

I also want to thank everyone for helping me. I'm new to this board and I appreciate the help, swiftness in responses and sincerety.

TIA, ~T

Just a jumping hint here:

Find the place you want to jump to. Try to hold ctrl or the right mouse button first. You can determine if your jump will be successful or not by looking at the change of camera angle. If there is a change, that means you will mostly be able to jump up successfully. (except in some very special situations)

Do you go right? Or do you go left? A simple decision, yes? No ambiguities. Only the dream of the path not taken! And so one might stand in this place and contemplate for a long while. What will I miss if I go left? What will I lose if I go right? And in my indecision, have I chosen a worse fate?

Just to let you know it IS possible to jump and climb all the way up. It's not all slopes there. Look for platforms just above your level. And save save save, just in case you fall AAaaaaaall the way down!

(Well, you can cheat and escape death... but you'll still have to climb all the way back up)

Ok, whew! I made it up. But! I had to jump and jump and jump up that slanted board to do it. (Heh, along with the Save, save, save at every step!) Thanks all!

YW,

Ok, now I feel it necessary to say this:

What the heck was that? And why in the world was it so important?

I did the quest and got the tar beaten outta me.

Several peeps said you'd get a surprise. Was that the surprize? If it was that just sucked rocks. LOL. Now, I did get a lot of loot from it, but since I took it quickly I didn't notice the good stuff. Was there any and what exactly was the benefit of that quest?

If it's something that needs to be secret or something you can email or icq me.

TIA ~T

Well, the surprise is that the guy is dead. That's all. You get a nasty scare when the skeleton mages appear... yes, that's about it.

Yes. Quite a few people got annoyed and frustrated from the chromanin quest. It's pretty stupid. But I usually do it very near the end, when I have the uriziel, and just cream the skeletons back to reality.

Well, if I thought of that I prolly wouldn't have been as dead as I was. LOL!

One good thing though, I managed to kill the mages and they still had a few Summon Skeleton spells on them. So, I'll summon them and kill 'em for the rest of the points. Although, it is quite fun to just run around and have a small army of skeletons follow you. Do they fight with you as well?.................I should try that.

I'm in the Orc Camp with the shaman orc's.Yet anothet item I can't get withiut being fried. But! As usual, I will check out the forum and see what I can find on it. (Before I beg for help, that is.

I fight the sceletons using "Death to the undead" spell over and over. Then a quick boost with a mana potion and again... . It was quite easy altough.

I think basically the skellies will attack anything which will potentially attack you. But sometimes they get carried away and run off to attack critters while you're tracking through the forest.

The sweet thing is that you'll collect their experience points!

I prefer to summon them and kill them just after summoning.
