Thief: Deadly Shadows - Screenshots @ IGN

PC.IGN has 10 (hopefully) new 'Thief: Deadly Shadows' <a href="http://media.pc.ign.com/media/015/015244/imgs_1.html" target="_blank">screenshots</a> to check out.

if I'm seeing another thief 3 screenshot that shows the game in 3rd person perspective I will go crazy. It's ok - Ionstorm, meanwhile the last retarded x-box user knows that you implemented this feature because so many console-fans like this kind of perspective and that staring at their own avatars butt means obviously more to them than a good story.
btw... in changing the title to deadly shadows (arggg... where are my pills?) you might have missed to reach the group of players that is under 5 years old. maybe you should change the title to *freaking fucking unbelievable black AND deadly shadows from hell* so even the last of the idiotic jar-jar bings faction understands that this might be exactely the right game for him/her.

Ironic

I find it ironic that I am inclinded to tell the above poster to grow up a little.

Meanwhile, these are actually decent shots that finally show off a little gameplay and not just cool poses and scenes.

I say, thank you, eidos for taking the shots and releasing them. Meanwhile, ION Storm is too busy finishing their game to worry about PR dealies.

Nope. I haven't owned a console since Sega Genesis. I simply know the difference between a screenshot released by a publisher's PR people, and a screenshot released by a developer. The former is usually released in groups, and can be found on previews on big websites and magazines. The later is usually released one at a time, anonymously, and rarely at all. These are clearly screenshots released by a PR department, who are not trying to sell the game to the fans, who will be buying it anyway... they're trying to sell it to people who have never heard of Thief before. Why try to sell it to the people who are already interested?

So, in short, give ION Storm a break. They most certainly do not suck, and nor does Eidos. They've got a product to sell.

Relax, calm the hate, play some <a href=http://www.thief-thecircle.com/missions/>Thief fan missions</a>, and hope for the best.

Since you skipped playing consoles you missed out on the Genesis of your favorite games...

Metal Gear was on 8-bit nintendo in 1987. It had stealth-action and gadgets. 13 years before Deus Ex or Thief.

Tenchu came out 1 year before Thief. So thief stole from the Japanese.
Metal Gear Solid also game out 1 year before thief...and 3 years before Deus Ex. Deus Ex steals lots of ideas from Metal Gear. So basically Ion Storm & Looking glass sold-out long before you even knew who they were!

lol boy... what kind of problem do you have? i missed nothing - metal gear is bs. i once bought that metal gear crap for pc - i dont remember which part and i really dont care - the manual gave me quite some headaches cause i had never seen so much mental diarrhoea in my whole life. do me one favor - dont compare thief with some japanese manga-style crap.
and btw just because most birds can walk on 2 legs they didn't *steal* it from the humans. so just because you can sneak in thief it doesnt mean lg stole it from some idiotic console game.

Tenchu, MGS and Thief all were released in 1998. The Dark Project had been in development longer than either of the other two. So I don't think an argument can be made of one 'stealing' from the other.

If you want to be picky, you could argue that Pac Man or any other game where you are forced to avoid enemies 'invented' stealth gameplay. There was no genre of 'stealth games' before '98, however.

Personally, I don't think stealth gameplay was very well executed in either Tench or MGS. While the former has since deservedly sunk into the bottomless sea of video game insignificance, MGS has managed to stay afloat due to brilliance in storytelling, not gameplay.
