Will I be forced to join the Militia. . .?

Right now I am doing the Thieves' Guild quest for Lord Andre. He said if I did that quest he will accept me into the Militia. However, I want to join the Monastery; I'm just doing this quest for the XP and loot. If I go back to Lord Andre after I finish the quest, will I be forced to join the Militia?

Nope. You have to tell Lord Andre when you are ready to join him.

You can even do the mission after you have joined another guild, as long as you asked Lord Andre about it as a guildless hero. The option to tell Andre that you have killed the thieves guild remains.

Hey there MageofFire,

Providing you don't join the pally's or the merc's, and DON'T talk to Lord Hagen, you can do as much questing and xp pumping as you like and the monastery will accept you.
I am now a fire mage and i am learning magic's but this is strange, after talking to lord Hagen i entered Ch/2, looking for further xpand training points,
i went to the mercs and as i spoke to Wolf he trained me to 90 2H master!
Never expected that!

Live up to your name "MageofFire" [/u]

You mean Cord, Wolf only teaches you how to use a bow. Cord trains any guild as long as you go to him when you are guildless and already fighter with one- or two-handed. He doesn't care if you join the mages or paladins. If you don0t talk to him guildless+fighter, he'll only train you as a merc.
