Have you been to the mountain-top "keep" yet? You have to go way up and then come back down to "ground level". You should get to an area that's bordered by lava on the west (where the lava lord came from), by the two gates that lead back to the Rapax prisoner (the guy that needed the staff)onthe north, and a path to a doorway on the right. If you take that path to the doorway, you'll find that it's locked and you cannot get in ("a specific item is required"). As you look at that door, strafe left (you might have to go around some rocks). You should find a crack in the wall. Enter. A short way in, you'll see a tunnel on your right side. You can only get about half way thru on the stepping stones. Opposite that tunnel are some support beams. At the bottom of one column is a gusset bar (a short piece that runs 45 degrees to the column). Click on that gusset bar. You can now go all the way thru the tunnel. Hopefully this helps. If not, specify where you are and where you've been, and we'll try again!

Actually, I'll do you one better. I marked up a map of Rapax Rift. It's not pretty, nor is it ultra-specific, but it should be enough to get you going again. Send me an email to dorsch6@comcast.net and I'll reply back with the map attached. I expect to be awake for another 3 hours or so tonight. I'll check my email a couple times between now and then. After that, I'll try again tomorrow morning.

Rapax Castle I give up

i have been to the mountain top and opened all the gates to the prisoners.
I then went back down to level. This is the start area. I then took the tunnel to the west (left) and to building with the prisoner who wated the staff. I released his lock but wants to remain. I then exited the building and stood in front of the locked door. I assumn this is where I should straf right. Nothing.

Either I am in the wrong place, i am blind or there is a bug. I guess i am in the wrong place

OK. When you were in the "hallway" with all the prisoners, you could follow that west to a couple bridges. From those bridges, you should be able to look north and down and see a big vault door. Go across those bridges to the landing. From that landing, there's a pathway down to an area that includes the locked door, the gates back to the prisoner, a second ramp underneath the first for some XP and treasure, a long peninsula in the lava, and the tunnel. If the end of the ramp puts you in the center of a clock face, the locked door is at 10-o-clock. The gates are about 6:30. The second ramp is at 12. The peninsula is around 4 (and then turns south). The tunnel is at 9:00.

I'll still send the map via email if you'd like.

Need an "@" in that address somewhere, don't you? I've got the map as a bitmap (everyone can bring up that format). It's 1.6 Meg. I can zip it so the file comes thru quicker, but I wanted to make sure you would be able to unzip it before I did that.

edit: I took a chance and put the "@" before the "wi". I didn't zip the file. We'll see if that goes thru and you can get it.

Rapax Rift

I think the reason I couldn't find it was that I already found it but didn't know it. There was a cavein but I didn't think it did anything but open the door to the inner sanctum. I disregarded the lave path because it is blocked by a stone. So I thought there is either another way or it was a deadend.

Stll not sure if the lava path is path or dead end. Not sure????

Yes I forgot the @ before wi.rr.com

You're on your way! The short path ("tunnel" on the map) is the way you need to go. You can't get thru it until you make it a little bigger. See the first reply for info on the gusset bar. That will make the tunnel a little bigger so that you can get thru. From there, a few fights and you're headed to the Rapax Castle.
