I started a new game and went to the Gilbert's cave right away, but he's not where. When could he be found there?

Odd, I would assume he is there all the time, unless he is killed.

He was not there in the later chapters too. And the first time around there was Milten waiting there, while the second time Milten staied for the rest of the game in front of the OC gates. Something odd with scripting... And they yet told me that the game had no multiple endings
