First LOVE this game it just sucks you in and makes you want to know what you may find around the next corner and I am only in chapter one (LOL) Stumbled across soo many interesting things just exploring.. On to the questions.. I am level 8 and am set to go onto chapter 2 as a (Merc.) am I high enough level to stand a chance in chapter 2 or should I finish up some more quests and kill as much as I can and gain more levels before going on?? What level would it be chalenging without being frustrating?? Also is spending points in DEX for ranged weapons worth it? Are there enough range weapons that do good damage?? If I beef up my dex I was going to go ahead with sneak and picklocks if there are enough chests and such. Just do not want to waste the points if points get slim in later levels do not want to gimp my character... Thanks for any input...

As for the level. Level 8-10 should be enough if you play chapter two as it is intended (The stealth approach, avoiding the though monsters).

Dunno about ranged weapons, but Dex is very usefull for Pickpocket and to a lesser degree in lockpicking and stealth

Well, it's always a good idea to gain as much experience as possible in on chapter in order to get more learning points and to get more skills ifor your character. There are good ranged weapons in the game. Generally, in each new chapter there are better weapons available. Crossbow can do more damage but are a little bit slower than bows. The dragon hunter cross bow does 100 damage but also requires 80 or 90 of dexterity to use.
