it's no help!

Can't someone just spell it out for me?

I found the INI file, but am not sure if it is the new or old one!

And I found the VDSF.CFG file but...

Hi,

You do not need to worry about the gothic.ini file. This only affects some graphical settings.

To run Gothic itself, you should start it from GothicStarter, not from your desktop or start menu.

Post again if you still have problems.

@Everyone else
Thanks for helping out with support.

Hi Alistair,

At first, thank you for the first english Gothic MOD.
I re-packaged the GothicMOD Player-Kit and made versions for 1.08j/k too.
Gothic MOD Player-Kits
Download and start the selfextracting archive, browse to the Gothic folder, extract/install it.
You should find an link to the GothicStarter on your desktop (sorry if you don't like that
The information (shown after starting the selfextracting archive) is still in german.
But you can hit 'Accept' -- it only goes in detail how to install/build MODs, states out that you are not allowed to make money with MODs, and should not expect any official support from Piranha Bytes...

Once you've installed the Player-Kit you should start Gothic itself from GothicStarter

Best regards, Nico

ps: edited to get the ftp-link working

I hope we'll see an re-packaged VisiGoth soon.

Because there is an Player-Kit available now.
There should be no reason to replace the Gothic.ini and doing other 'hacks' (done to get it running without an english Player-Kit).
Sure, I could do this, but it's not my MOD (at least I have to ask him)

Thanks Nico. I saw the new player kits on the German forum. I won't be able to do anything with them until I'm back in England though.

And even then, VisiGothic was just a 'test' mod, to see if it could be done - I might not do anything more with VG and concentrate on my next mod.

A.

PS: I saw a few people have complained about scripting problems in Gothic (Winches, anyone?). Is there any point in my creating a patch to solve these issues?

If you wish/allow I can make an new SFX and set the version the 1.1 -- so anyone can see that the new package (still with the same mod/ini) requires the Player-Kit...
(plus change the info file -- I'll send you an email)

To fix the problems someone might have -- constact me (see my profile).
The final solution is to backup your savegame(s), reinstall Gothic (with patches), restore your savegame(s).

ps: the problem with the winches is well known (should have nothing to do with your scripts)

=edit= hate that typos =)

@Cheapy

In the game menu goto Settings / Keyboard
and select Default Setting.
To enable/disable the mouse and/or 'Invert View' see Settings / Game

@NicoDE: Thanks for the infos. I posted them on the front page.

scripting problems: As far as I understand Alistair is talking about Gothic, not about his Mod. For whatever reason the English version seems to contain more/more serious scripting bugs than the German version.

edit: I guess he also implies that somebody on WoG claims to have solved the Gorn/Free Mine issue.

@Gorath, temporary I put an new version of VisiGothic in the same ftp folder (MOD itself is unchanged).
Can someone check the grammar/spelling of the ReadMe file please?

Thanks in advance, Nico

Scripting:

Yes, I was talking about Gothic itself. (And yes, I see someone on WoG does claim to have sorted out Gorn's behaviour.)

ReadMe:

I can't help while I'm out of the UK... Sorry

VG Quest:

Where are you told she's set up camp..? Take a torch - it's dark up there...

A.
