To anyone who is looking at this and knows how please help me. I installed Visigothic and played through it. Now when i start a regular game my char is bald and nost of the speech selection boxes and such are in german. How can i restore my origional ini settings and such (the files i overwrote to install visigothic) without having to reinstall the game???

Check the readme file for the mod, it says a copy of the original GOTHIC.ini file came with it so you can revert back to the original settings.

Hmm... Try contacting Alistair (the author of the mod). E-mail: agt71@hotmail.com
It could be a bug, in which case you should report it to him immediately.
If you have an e-mail address, I could send you a copy as well, it's only 5K.

Cool, I'm happy you found a solution.
If you still like, I can send you a copy of the file so you have a backup.

Hi,
Once you've installed any Gothic Mod, whether VisiGothic or any of the others, you should start Gothic itself from GothicStarter... otherwise the thing can get confused, as you've seen.
Sorry that wasn't clear. I'll update the ReadMe, if version 1.1 ever happens.
A.
(The Gothic.ini file will not help you with this issue - it only affects graphical settings.)

After playing the mod, which was great, I started a new game.
When it loaded I was looking at my bald avatar!
I mean the guy looked ok but I didn't need my hero to remind me I was bald too!
So, I quit the game and replaced the VDFS.CFG file from the mod with the original and everything was back to normal.
The mod added one line to this config file
" data*.MOD "
By removing this line I got my hair back
Also Allistair, could you tell me hou you extract the compiled scripts? (Like gothic.dat ect..)
