I did the exact thing that vladie did (format, install xp, update drivers, install morrowind) and it worked perfectly.

Had the same problems you guys describe - could play the game tho, but had infrequent crashes. Had already ordered a nes vid card (Gainward Gforce3 TI 200) - which, of course improved the graphics, but did nothing for my fps's - and I still had infrequent crashes - maybe even more of them.
Nvidia 28.32 drivers - no dice.
Tried the beta 29.20 drivers together with the latest (not beta) Via 4in1 - and BINGO!!
Up until this point I suspected my sound card was the culprit (SB PCI128) - and tried to lower the hardware acceleration on it - baaaaad sound - couldn't (wouldn't) play with it even if I turned the music down - but the 20.20 driver, like I said seemed to solve it!!
So for me - yeah - had to get the latest drivers for my vid card to make it work even tho it seemed like it was the soundcard.
Played for two hours straight after that upgrade - no crashes _________________ Pessimist says: Things can't get worse than this!
