Just wanted to say the same thing many of you have been saying. This is a wonderful game! Something I have been waiting for a long time.

The only weird thing is...since it is so non-linear I feel lost. It is pretty amazing how when forced to make some tough decisions early in the game you really aren't sure which way to go. Having the freedom of choice is such a unique thing in CRPGs any more.

Agreed. You'd think that by now non-linearity would have been embraced by modern games, especially RPG's. I think it's avoided because it's such an immense task for the Developers. Hopefully Piranha will expand on the elements of Gothic for Gothic 2, not re-do them to conform to the other mass market RPG's. I didn't like the words "completely reviewed" in that small preview just recently.

I'm currently replaying Ultima Underworlds 1 and 2, and I'm amazed at the number of things in those games that aren't standard in today's games...

haha, thats the beauty of Chapter 1
Thats non-linearity at its finest:
No sides chosen
EVERYONE has quests for you
99% of the quests can be done how/when you want to do them

Everytime I finish this game, I rethink chapter 1 and wonder what if.
Finished the game twice as melee, now Im trying Archer for a challenge, much more fun/harder.
