Fable (Xbox): Mailbox @ Xbox.IGN

Xbox.IGN has posted a bunch of congratulatory emails in response to their 12-page 'Fable' preview, along with answers to the questions therein:
I have a question about Fable. How limited are you i where you can walk? Say, for example, you are in a forest. Can you go anywhere in the forest, of are you consigned to a path like in KOTOR? Thanks

-- Daniel

No, you don't have true freedom like Morrowind. You are somewhat confined to where you can go, but it's a bit more open than KOTOR.
Read it all here if you don't mind the hype.

The funny thing is...if they'd made it for PC in the first place they probably would've been able to make the game they originally had in mind. Instead of having to cut tons of features because the x-box can't handle it all.

Unless the game just sucks utter balls (or turns worthless after playing for a few hours) I'll probably buy the PC port...for $30 or less.

I don't imagine there'll be a PC version for awhile though. I'd bet on 6 months, but that's only IF they were already working on it and just not allowed to say anything by Microsoft (in order to get more folks to buy x-box's). If they really ARE still negotiating with Microsoft whether or not a PC version will be done (like PM said in a recent interview/chat) and haven't even STARTED the PC port...it'll be awhile.

The game seems like nothing more than a cute little distraction to me though. I guess if the only games I played were on the x-box this game would be like the holy grail. But since I'm a PC snob and don't own a box...I'm not all that impressed by what I've seen. Looks like a cute little hack n slash adventure game. With emotions instead of dialogue (no dialogue trees at all...HA). I hope it's fantastic (and an actual RPG) even if I have to wait for a port...but I'm betting it'll be about as deep an RPG experience as Diablo is...but with more pretty visual customizations and animations.

What's the hype about this game anyway?

I can imagine how the console kids believe in the hype and really trust that this game will be the be and end all of CRPGs, but I thought RPGDOT readers were a little more resistant to Peter's charm person and dominate mind magic.

Anyone remember Dungeon Siege?
That game was so obviously going to suck from the very first preview (Chris Taylor: "Dialog in RPGs should be no longer than one or two sentences. Else it gets boring." ), that I still wonder how people could look forward to it.

Fable IMHO is no different. Lots of empty words and cut features.
No dialog trees (can anyone confirm?) ?
a "quest center" ?
Direct "beam me to the next quest, Scotty" teleportation ?

I guess there are a lot more signs that Fable (as an RPG) will suck, but I stopped followind its development some time ago, so I can't name them all.
