I doubt it. Why would they have British accents in "Ye Old World"? Everyone knows that they were all american....

Gothic is not set in "Ye Old World." It is set in Myrtana.

Oh sorry. I meant "Ye Old World" rip off then

Not really. Like 98% of fantasy works to come out since the 50s, it owes a debt to Tolkien, but it's not a rip-off of anything.

Wait, are you referring to something specific? I was assuming you meant Europe.

When I say "Ye Old World" I meant Tolkien.

And basically everything is a rip off of Tolkein. I dont mean that as an insult. I mean why wouldnt you base it on the best fantasy world ever created?

I see. I assumed you meant Europe, since it's sometimes called the Old World. You might want to refer to Tolkien's creation as Middle Earth to avoid confusion. I've never seen it called "Ye Old World."

Does anyone know what the deal is with the VAT? Will I get a credit to my account for it, since I'm not in an EU country, or what?

If all versions of G2 are identical except for the voices, why would you think that?

This.
Isnt VAT the format used for refreshing monitor screens (TVs really) for platform games or something?...

*edit* N/M thats PAL
I dont know what VAT is
I do know they store wine in them, although, I dont think they'll give you a discount on VAT, unless you can prove you are a certified winemaker or own a certain amount of acres of vinyards...

VAT = Value Added Tax

And they shouldnt charge you VAT if you are outside the UK, but that is up to the company. If they are too lazy to do the paperwork for not charging you then you are basically screwed.

Thanks, Chekote, I guess I'm one of the screwed ones.

Also, does anyone have an estimate for shipping time from Leeds, UK to Pennsylvania, USA? Gameplay says 1-4 weeks. It had damn well be faster than that. Comparably priced USPS Global Airmail takes 4-10 days.

Actually I think they call wine storage barrels casks, as in "The Cask of Amontillado." Vats are generally open at the top. Not that it matters.

I just read this on GoneGold:

quote:
I just sent the following email to GoGamer.com:

Hello,

------------------------------------------------
I was wondering if GoGamer had any plans to carry the UK version of Gothic 2? If so, do you have an idea of when you would have it in stock, I believe it is being released in the UK this week.

I am just currious because I would rather order it from you rather than a UK site.

-------------------------------------------------

And got the following response:

-------------------------------------------------

We are expecting it by early next week. Please go ahead and place a pre-order on our site so we can guarantee you the shipment.

-------------------------------------------------

game.uk.com says 4 to 6 days shipping to the US. They use a service called "royal mail".

I know my post says Gameplay but that's cause they're the first one I found. I found out about GAME later and also pre-ordered from them. We'll see which one comes first..
