I've found a few books in the demo (History, Geografic etc.), some of them I'm able to understand, and they will be inscribed in my journal when i right click them. If my character don't understand them, i'm still able to right click them, but then they just dissappear.
They aren't worth anything if you try to sell them, but I wonder if they will have any function if you collect an entire series, or is it just further gameworld info for the interested?

Some NPCs mention if you've got all volumes of a certain series the gods will grant you special powers or lead you to a powerful item. I don't know if that's true though.
