Exactly!
I agree with both Ammon777 and Darkmoon.
But then, tell me why there is ( will be ) a Final Fantasy XI as a MMORPG?
I love FINAL FANTASIES just as much as ULTIMAS...( as in sp with story)
And why did they stop making FF games for pc after FF8 which was a GRAND game with a perfect story... ( Sorry a bit off topic here )

Did your mommy wake you up too early? You need to cool down man, just take a deep breath and count to 10... well you might want to make that 100.

Yes, "mommy" woke me up super early. You should get new material if you really want to pigeon hole yourself into a flame war you wouldn't be able to win. You whine about me being rude (when I wasn't) then you turn into a hypocrite and make a foolish attempt to attack me. How juvenile.

quote:
If you spoke to some people face to face the way you spoke (written) to me, you would have signed a death pact or let's say a good beating pact, because many people can't stand that kind of behavior. But I don't think you would have the, lets say "courage", to speak so "roughly" into someone's face.

Ahh yes, the never ending story of online exsistance. The good 'ol "You wouldn't act like that infront of someone.". Well, to burst your bubble, regardless of whether or not you believe me. I type online, just how I would talk to someone face to face. Shocking that someone can be blunt yet get a point across without resorting to using cuss words or personally attacking someone isn't?

quote:
Lots of newer shooters allow up to 64 per server and I don't think bf1942 goes beyond that. It is definitely an online game though so no argument there.

That was my point, it just got lost in my ramble.

quote:
I agree that he did have some good points on his arguments but he started acting very childish and rude, espiecally to Scoundrel. If he can't debate without making rude personal attacks maybe he should go find another forum at ezboards

Please quote these childish/rude comments for me, as I don't see them.

quote:
But he said I didn't made a point, attacking me for no apparent reason.

Claiming you didn't make a point is not an attack. If you're that soft and can't take criticism like that, let me know and I'll make sure to never respond to your stuff again. I would hate to cause someone such distress over something so petty like "You didn't make one...".

Ok. All stop here. Everybody involved takes a step forward and apologizes, regardless of if he thinks he's right or wrong.

Else I get angry - and you don't want to see the webmaster getting angry - believe me.

I apologize from everyone who read these topics.
I didn't want to cause trouble to anyone at all...
Although I was expecting to shake hands with Llama and put an end to this nonsense, I got very surprised by his last topic. He is indeed so blindly thinking that he did NOTHING wrong, which makes me very angry.
I am sorry Rendelius but I WILL NOT take that anymore.
However I am a reasonable and rational person after all.
If you believe in GOD, then we shall all be forgiving as he is...

Here's a lil story to calm you all down (or maybe not).

I found this site almost 2 yrs ago after I finished Gothic and wanted to find a forum to discuss the game. I got here and I was just taken back at how everyone was so nice and friendly and considerate of each other. This is probably the only site I know where people express their *true* feelings, and maybe that becase of the strong sense of community here, no one's afraid of getting 'flamed' or ridiculed for just being themselves...as opposed to the hundreds of other forums I go to for my MMOG games (like AC) where flamewars are the norm and the only topics you see posted are the braggarts with self-inflated egos getting adulation from the sheep who follow them. Where its only about smart remarks, flaming and put-downs (aka ACVault.com)

As for me, Im from US, have always been into RPGs...from the Pen and Paper days when I used to wonder how a computer would handle it, to the CRPG days when I used to wonder how amazing would this be if I could play it online, right up to now where Im amazed at how fast the MMORPG genre has come. Anyway, ever since I've been online.

Some things I can say about this site, as the so called 'outsider-looking-in':
* The majority of posters from this site (including staff) are anti-MMOG, in pretty much any way, shape, form. I dont know if its because what MMOGs represent (a need for high speed internet connection, need for CC to pay for monthly fees, the overall rudeness of the d00dz you maybe came across within your 1st 5 min inside your 1st attempt at an mmog, or what)

Now I dont know Llama except from a few of his posts but I do know his sig has been like it is for a long time now because I clearly remember seeing his sig a long time back and was amazed that a site like this would let him keep a sig like that w/o someone noticing it. I will also say that he is 100% on point with almost everything he has said regarding his facts and opinions on the MMOG genre ( and YES, BF1942 was originally designed by EA to be 99% online with maybe 1% practicing their skills in SP and then eventually going online. And that the ONLY difference between1942 not being considered a true MMOG is that it doesnt have a PSW (persistent state world) for your stats to be saved. Since their is no leveling in 1942, there *is* no need for a PSW.

So again, without anyone getting all hot under the collar, while the views of the majority of this site is for CRPGs, that view is all but idealistic at this time. You guys are essentially beating uo the messenger for bringing the message. And then you accuse him of being rude or whatever.
How many CRPGs is everyone waiting for in the next year? 5? 6? IF THAT many...
Off the top of my head alone I can think of about 15 MMOGs that will be going beta 1 in Jan alone
You want to know why this new Ultima Online 2 wont be called that? Its called cannibalism, why would ea take away from their cash cow when they can rehash some new crap and package it as something totally different and make their cash cow money + more?
This is the way of the future people...CRPG makers are like the Jedi..a dying breed. How many are truly left? BioWare, PB, Wizards of the Coast?

I'm sorry for fueling the fire, but im not sorry for what i said. It more than likely gave him a good laugh rather than offended him, i think he likes that kind of stuff (hehehe).

EDIT: Shrapnel, Ive gotta tell you that i love your avatar and then the Rocket Scientist bit goes great with that... PURE genius!

You are surely trying to express your thoughts about MMORPGs rather than calming people down or telling a story. ( OR you are giving your past experience of speech in many forums on different web pages...) Anyway...
I think it really doesn't matter where we come from. OK I am from Turkey, a place most Americans ( and others ) don't even know where it is ( I know because I studied in a US college ). Few people can only say "Istanbul" when I ask them "Do you know anything about Turkey?". ( I am beginning to think being a Turk makes me a target )
But it doesn't mean I know less about RPGs or CRPGs than others.
Who says I haven't been playing pen&paper for a very long time and had MUCH more fun? Well, I did have lots of fun...
I also enjoyed classics like the good old Ultima7BG and SI (w/ expansions too!) MUCH better than Ultima Online, and those are my thoughts...
Anyway, I totally respect yours and other's thoughts in return and that's it for now...

I don't think the staff here are anti-MMORPG - I believe Rend will be launching MMORPGdot soon, for example. I have played in a MMORPG beta with staff from this site and I know others are big MMO fans. How many of Ekim's editorials have been about MMO issues?

Having said that, a large number of members came to RPGDot as fans of SP games like Gothic,Wiz8, Arx and DD so I presume there's a large number of SP fans. Perhaps that "weights" opinion somewhat against MMO games, but I'm sure it's not deliberate. If I debated the merits of SP games on a MMO fansite I would expect opinion to be against me.

I hope I didn't "shoot the messenger" but I certainly apologise if I did. For my part, I quite enjoyed the debate with Llama.

sorry if i offended anybody. although i'm sure i didnt. but sorry anyway we all need to get drunk together. we should have a binge. seriously, we should all save up our money (or have Rend loan us some money, jk) and meet up in Paris for a ten-day-long european alcohol consumption session. that would be funny...
