The developers thought it sounded cool. And I'm not being sarcastic. _________________ Jaz |

Its a word used to describe the type of architecture around in medieval times. Its to reinforce the fact that this is centuries ago and makes you feel as if your in that time
And it did it well |

This question was asked in the past and was answered rather accurately by someone we have all learned to love and trust. The reason stated in the answer of why Gothic is called Gothic goes something like this:
In this case, Gothic is taken from the ancient Gaelic dialect. It seems that a mythological philanthropic man by the name of Gothe was captured and falsely sent to prison, where he was befriended by a slow commoner by the name of Dum. With his help, Gothe escaped the prison and was again a free man. After the escape, Gothe roamed the country side, righting wrong and slaying huge beasts with his mighty sword. The followers of this person were called Gothen later to be called Gothic , hence the title Gothic . Gothe, it appears, was almost invincible and always carried his infamous Ehtog's Sword with him everywhere he went. He was a mighty hero. This is all true, and if it isn't, it should be |

quote:
Germanic; Teutonic.
It was developed in Germany. (Isn't Myrtana also supposed to be a imaginary part of Germany?)
quote:
Of or relating to the Middle Ages; medieval.
Felt like the middle ages to me, dark times, people wearing clad armor, the rich stealing from the poor.
quote:
Of or relating to a style of fiction that emphasizes the grotesque, mysterious, and desolate.
The game was grotesque, mysterious and the land was desolate.
quote:
Barbarous; crude.
Nuff said there.
Makes sense to me. |

But of course you were. I just thought I'd point out why the meaning of the name makes sense.
