Trials of Ascension: Preview @ MMO Worlds

MMO Worlds has posted a fairly detailed preview of Trials of Ascension. Here's a snippet:
You may think “with perma-death, PvP must be very restricted if not totally absent”. Well, you think wrong . ToA will have unrestricted full PvP. Please don't leave now, let me explain. There won't be any safe zones except for one place called the Pantheon. It was built by the civilized races to honor the gods, in that place it's forbidden and impossible to fight with each other. Imagine some sort of great cathedral for example.
At this point one may think that the devs must be under the influence of some hallucinogenic mushrooms because perma-death and full PvP are not very compatible and that ToA will rapidly become PK-land. Don't judge them so quickly.

First, one has to realise that the PK like his victims has a limited number of life counters so with each attack he takes the risk of dying and by doing so he comes closer to perma-death. Combined with the fact that there won't be any "/con"-like commands, that is it won't be possible to predict the toughness of an opponent. That makes you think twice before attacking someone..
Second, there will be a player driven justice system. Any player that witnesses a murder will be able (assuming he/she's not killed too ) to report the murder to the local authorities (see the paragraph about settlements) who will send bounty hunters to kill the murderer and/or put him on a KOS list. You'll see that with the importance of settlements in ToA, it's not good to be on too many KOS lists...
