Where is Daggerfall????

I think I've tried everything...None of the shops I went sell it anymore,it's not on any of the dozens of abandonware lists that I checked, and when I try to order it online, I can't find it either. Not in Amazon , Ebay not even in Bethesda's own store!!! Some say it's not abandonware and I should buy it ..Well, that's fine with me ,if it's not abandonware then where is it and who is selling it?

I haven't played the game (only the demo),I know it's old , but from the things I hear and my impression of the demo ,I believe that it at least deserves a place of its own somewhere on the planet!

Here in Italy it isn't sold.
In the abandonware ring, for a period, it was free to download.
Now the Bethesda has joined the ISDA (Interactive Digital Software Association) that makes illegal all the download "not authorized", even if the game is not sold anymore... what a shame!
The only thing one can do is send a message to bethesda asking to aothorize the abandonware rings to make the download avaiable...

It is a stupid rule, but it has it's place. If you condone the existance of a game in the public domain I believe you have implicitly given up any rights to the copy right...this includes the name. So if daggerfall is left in the abandonware ring, and Bethesda is aware of it, they are implicitly allowing anyone to make Daggerfall 2. Or at least so the argument goes.

Yes but it's a very stupid motivation...
you could let the people have the game (increasing the fame) and mantain the trademark. Then make a sequel with much more fans...

sometimes i don't understand the marketing world...

So why don't they sell it instead? Or just make it available somehow...
And by the way what do you mean by
"allowing anyone to make Daggerfall 2"????

I just don't understand your reasoning.....

To allow game distribution through abandonware, it sends a message to every downloader that the publisher recognizes this channel and they are welcome to do so. Talk about giving up copyrights.

To sell the game through third parties, Bethesda needs to arrange an array of distribution channels and I believe there are not much vendors will be interested with a DOS game.

To sell/download the game itself, it involves expenses and investment. The Morrowind official site is already bad enough - it can use more servers/bandwidth.

Moreover, last I checked, Bethesda is not an independent company. It is held by ZeniMax Media Company. It sounds to me like the relationship between Origin and EA. It is EA who made the decision to cancel UO2. What a sad end for an once great developer.

To make available a game you have to start a chain that begin with the software house and end with the CD, but in the middle there are meny steps (the manufactuter of the cd... the print press of the manual... etc.etc ) and this is EXPENSIVE if the game is old and the sales are limited...

for the Daggerfall 2 argument, i'm not sure but Bethesda keeps the rights over the "Elder Scrolls: xxx" series so it wouldn't be any problem. No one can make a Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall 2 without their permission...

Well ,I understand but still it is a shame not to be able to find the game anywhere.. What makes me angry is that you can find all sort of junk dated back to 1985 and before but not Daggerfall...
