You should/REALLY YOU MUST!!! use the
Memory interleave enabler. and dont forget to install the
agp gart so u enable your agp "turbo" mode
you can read about this here:
http://www.viahardware.com/memoryenable.shtm
or download it and install it:
http://www.viahardware.com/download/george/venabler_v014.zip
you can go to downloads...drivers to find the agp gart file aswell
This gave me an HUGE boost in morrowind 10fps more in average
loading times. stutters all history.
Needless to say, it also gave my computer an adrenaline injection
So if you havent this. then dl it.
Just a reminder for all of you non tech dudes

Great tip. Just be sure to read through the readme. Some people, like myself, don't need to have this installed. Make sure you read through it all and pay close attention to the first line of the Readme:
Quote:
This product CAN DAMAGE A COMPUTER. Use it carefully and at your own risk.
End Quote.
Be careful.

Go get NVMAX, it's available at www.voodoofiles.com under Nvidia tools. It works extremely well and has just enough tweaks to not be overwhelming yet still offer excellent flexibility. It also supports changing your AGP speed. Oh, and make sure your motherboard supports more than AGP 1X, my motherboard only supports up to 2X, and insure that you have the latest motherboard drivers. |

Those early kt133 chipsets had a hella time with agp. Go get the latest via 4in1 drivers, install them in turbo mode, see if that does it. www.viahardware.com Also, do not use the drivers that came with your herc card get the lastest detonators from www.nvidia.com You are prolly better of at 2x agp for stability though.
Everyone else, get the "Via PCI latency patch" does better for your system than the interleave enabler patch does. trust me. If you have a newer mobo, chances are you are running 4 way interleave anyhow. I was and the patch made no difference. But the latency patch solved a shitload of sound/video problems for me and boosted my video/hardrive performance a lot. Even Via says this is a must have. |
