I've got a big problem, for some reason as soon as I get the short sword at the very beginning (when you choose stats, class, face..etc.) when I walk out the door it quits the game? What could be wrong?? Also, can this game be played as 3rd Person View like Gothic??

It would be useful if you tell us more about your system - this seems to be ystem related.
And yes, ou can play 3rd person, but in fights I would recommend to play 1st person.

Sounds like a classic Crash to Desktop problem. First thing first, make sure you've got at least the minimum hardware spec and install the latest stable drivers for your graphics card.
If things don't improve, post your system details (CPU, Motherboard, GFX, OS, RAM, DirectX version and current graphics driver version at least) in case someone knows of an incompatibility.
Two questions: What frame rate do you get up to that point? Does it *always* crash at that point?

you can try to either upgrade or downgrade your video card drivers...
