IGN is sharing some first impressions from playing 'Dungeon Siege II' in <a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/641/641300p1.html" target="_blank">this article</a>.<blockquote><em>When the original Dungeon Siege came out over three years ago, it was solidly entertaining in the click-click-click, action-oriented vein of Diablo, to which it was constantly (and often unfavorably) compared. The loot was good and the action was intense, but many felt that the game sometimes played itself. Well, I can tell you that, after several days of playing through the game, much more has been addressed than mere party mechanics. While a couple new issues have cropped up, Dungeon Siege II puts its previous entry completely in shadow, in terms of gameplay depth, story depth, length, and addiction level.</em></blockquote> |

I played the demo and it seems to me that its just more of the same.Some added features to be sure but basically the same,go from A to B and so on.A nice looking game but I guess I`m more into a non-linear type.Looking forward to Oblivion. |

Well, This is FAR less linear than what Dungeon Siege 1 was, in Dungeon Siege 1 it is exactly how you described it, in Dungeon Siege 2 you can do quests in whatever order you want, with only few exceptions. _________________ "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" -Edmund Burke. I played the demo for three days straight (That's how long it took me to actually finish that robust little demo) and I saw no similarity between DS1 and DS2...thank god.
The first game was nothing more then a hand-guided tour through a very mundane looking countryside that had a few million monsters to hack apart. There was no party banter or party relationship conflicts (Something DS2 has, even in its demo form). There was no way to customize your characters, no way to make one fighter look different from the rest, no reason to ever really control your characters, a gimped spell system, no plot whatsoever, no real NPC interaction, and absolutely no ability to "roam" around and get into side quests.
Even by playing the demo, I've seen that DS2 has ALL of these things...things that DS1 lacked.
I love a good H&S game...heck, I still play nethack...and from what I've seen DS2 will turn out to be a pleasurable game. |
