Don't know how many you guys using these browser, but the latest version is just getting better than ever!.
I am using IE for many years, but the browser getting old without innovative features. Opera was cool, better than IE with many handy features. Then i tried Mozilla 1.6, it was good but lacked advanced control (mouse gestures support) and the flexibility to customizes with extentions/plug-ins.
Firefox contains all those advantages, plus it's free, more screen space, and no ads banner as when you using Opera!.

I have never used Mozilla before, but I thought I would give it a try since you are singing its praises.
The only differences I can see between this and IE are the Developer Tools (Which is very nice). But I am sure there must be more to it than that.
I also downloaded the themes and the extensions you mentioned, but I cant seem to get them to work. I dropped the extensions in the extension folder, but they dont appear in my extension list. I am not sure how to install the themes either.
Care to enlighten me as to Mozilla's wonders?

The extensions will install themselves after downloading; then restart the browser to let them work properly. Select Tools -->extentions-->double left click or single right click on new extentions for options.
Themes; after download into default/selected folder, drag & drop them into themes menu, and restart browser. There is another way, see Firefox Help & support forums.

Nice, I've been using 0.8 since it was released, without any exte4nsion. I think I may try some now.

The best way is probably to just download all extensions that sound any good at all, and then just test them. It doesn't seem too hard to just disable them if you don't like them.

I have a question about FF. I was tempted to try it all these weeks (that I have heard of it), but had some doubts. Namely, I recently switched back from Opera to IE. Can you believe it?  I had a damn god reason, and that's those wysiwyg editors that don't seem to work over in Opera. So my question is: does FF support all those little things that make your life easier? Err... I mean wysiwyg... |

@Chekote, Mozilla and FireFox are different, although stablemates. Mozilla is the name of the organisation and a full browser/email etc suite, currently v1.6 I think. FireFox is a browser-only based on the Mozilla renderer but faster and with some nice usability tweaks.
Why is it so good? First - tabbed browsing. Simply the best thing ever thing for me. Have you ever been reading a page and wanted to open a link to another site to read after you've finished reading the current site? Good examples might be looking through a Google search and seeing a dozen different sites you want to visit or reading the RPGDot news and wanting to read two or three reviews.
With IE you probably right-click and choose 'Open in new Window', which opens a browser page over the top of what you are reading. With FireFox (others have it too), hold down CTRL when you click and the link opens in a tab behind the current page. You can have as many tabs open as you want. When you're ready, just click the appropriate tab at the top and the page has loaded in the background.
Then there's the built-in pop-up stopper, download manager, built-in Google search bar, small menus so there's more screen space, downloadable extensions to add extra functions if you choose, open-source and security. Since FF doesn't support ActiveX it's damn near impossible to be invaded by adware and spyware - a godsend if you ask me.
The downside is that some sites use those Microsoft-only extensions and ActiveX (when they really shouldn't IMO), so occasionally a site looks a little different or some menus don't work - but it's not that often.
As a computer tech I see machines everyday that have IE destroyed by spyware and adware and since the IE renderer is used to display My Computer etc it can completely screw up Windows. Never a worry with FF.
@hwfanatic, do you mean like the RPGDot editor stuff? I think some of them are ActiveX stuff so FF won't work. I use IE only for editing @ RPGDot and FF for everything else.

Thank you kindly. Now, I have a few things to add to this discussion, without trying to troll, spam or anything of a kind.
I have recently discovered a browser that uses ie engine, but has all the things you have numbered, except for a download manager. The most important thing are the tabs, obviously, but this one can disable ActiveX content on your command, or any other aspect of a today's web page. It offers most compatibility which is the best ie feature, but with so many more options than ie that you will never wish to go back again. I especially liked the mouse gestures, but I heard FF has that one as well...
No, I'm not trying to advertize, but this thing is simply adorable, and I thought I should share it with you. On top fo that, it si very much freeware.

Interesting discussion.
Opera also has most -if not all- the mentioned things. Plus it´s very easy to configure, something which is a PITA in IE.
Is there a killer feature which really makes FF or Avant better than Opera?

Just a stupid question.
Is hyper-threading enabled by default in Firefox v0.9? I remember it has to be turned on manually in Firefox v0.8.
(There are already many Firefox-vs.-Opera threads in forums such as MozillaZine. In general, other than price tag, extension and a GUI that is quite similar to IE, there are very few reasons to switch from Opera to Firefox.) |

The new Firefox release is good. I prefer Opera's recent release though (7.51). In my opinion, Opera is the dominant browser. FF may have tabs but unlike opera you can't customize the placement of them. (Not that I've discovered at least.) By that I mean in whatever order you open the tabs they will sit in FF as opposed to Opera where you can determine placement whenever you like. Opera and FF share many of the same features but what Opera dominantly has over FF is customization. Everything in Opera can be customized to some extent. FF has exstensions. The majority of things that these extensions do are already built into Opera i.e. mouse gestures. I also find that usually FF takes more active memory to run than Opera does but this is not always the case.
The most negative thing I've discovered about Opera is that some pages just plain don't display correctly in some instances. Which, admittedly, can be annoying. For example, look at the first screen next to the Pic of the Moment. There's a graphical error. But in the last screen it's correct. These are pithy things but I have run into websites that out and out refuse to cooperate with Opera hence why I have FF installed. It's the emergency browser.
I'm not trying to start a browser war here. I appreciate you alerting me to the new Firefox version. If there is anything I have said about Firefox that is simply untrue, please enlighten me as I like to be able to utilize my browsers to their highest efficiency.

Opera and FireFox are very good browser, no doubt. They both contain many features that i liked, but not available in IE.
I used Opera for near 1 year period and it's a little faster than IE. The stability also very good, with many useful features and easy to configure. However in my surfing experiences, Opera more frequently encountering problem to display certain websites properly, or when you editing webpage. This is pretty obvious compare to IE. I heard that's due to Opera strictly following webpage building codes/protocols.
I used Firefox for near 3 months, more stable on my PC compare to Opera, as fast as Opera, many options through downloadable plug-ins. It had problem display certain werbpages under version 0.8, but so far not anymore with 0.9.
Not that i have certain attachment to Firefox, i'll quickly jump to another browser (if Opera become clearly better again, or other better browser in future), but so far i mostly satisfied with FireFox.
