It's an RTS.

I think that it'll rock.
Too bad that blizzard fanboys will diss it.

Yes, and that is a shame. If there's one thing one don't need
one more of , its a RTS game.

Itīs in no way like Myth. Spellforce is a mix of Warcraft 3 and Dungeon Siege. Itīs a AAA title with high production values and itīs made by an experienced team. The people behind Phenomic created their own sub-genre before with the Settlers series.
Everybody with a broadband connection should definitely check out the trailer on the official site.

This game is the biggest thing in the German games press besides the obvious big names everybody is waiting for, like HL 2 for example. All previews here say SpellForce is an innovative game which looks and plays fantastic.

Iīll open a thread with more details when I find the time.

Gorath,

Do you think its innovate enough to interest someone who is NOT into RTS games?

For instance, I wouldn't consider myself a die-hard turn-based strategy fan either. However, I love the HOMM games and Jagged Alliance 2.

Does this game have that "thing" which will make it a genre-breaker if you know what mean?

It seems to me the core gameplay is the same "build frantically"/"We are under attack!!" click-fest like Warcraft 3.

Well, it got me interested. My last RTSes were Dungeon Keeper and Populous 3.

The devs intend to create a new genre (RPS). Phenomic had (the game should be gold by now) a big budget, 3 years development time and the producer who did Gothic 2. They created a new (sub-)genre before, so why shouldnīt they do it again?
