I have the rapier for my melee weapon (the one next to the 2 trolls near onars farm) the trolls are easy, I killed them with the sword 18DMG 10DEX.
The rapier does 50DMG and requers 50DEX.

Ok but it will probably be a while because I have just joined a band and most of my time is spent playing the guitar, not gothic. But what I will do is post a section on each chapter and highlight any potential problems as I play through it.

You don't

I just go in and grab it and run away. You can do it even without a speed potion. A troll first has to raise its arm and is very slow. Oh, grab the king's sorrell next to the rapier too.

I find sneaking useful against orcs and lizardman. If you are short on skill and your bow doesn't quite have the range, you can use sneak mode and get really close. They don't notice you if you come in from behind or the side. I killed Sylvio by shooting at him from point blank range just right behind him.

You can also sneak up on farmers if nobody sees you.

Sneak doesn't work on beasts that can smell you though.

That's what I expected but it seemed so strange, just run for it.

Did anybody ever try to sneak upon a skeleton, like sneaking in to grab the dragon slicer? If it works, that would be nice since it may change the whole concept playing mage. I may even consider using two-hander instead.

I got dragon slicer in chapter 3. Skeletons are easy after you get death to the undead rune. There was no point for me to get it earlier because I didn't have enough strength to use it. I spend most of my LP to train weapon skill to 60% before I join monestary otherwise they double after you become a mage. I only train my strength to 40 in chapter 1, which is enough for paladin 2 hander. In chapter 2, you get battle axe, and dragon slicer in chapter 3.

I got the dragon slicer in chapter 1 once and I was untoucable for the rest of the game, to deal with the shadow worriors I found 2 death to undead scrolls near were Nicolas lives, then using potions that I had found and wearing a ring that you get near the scrolls took my mana up to 30, then reading the book "Divine power of the stars" Gives you +2 mana, giving daron 1000 gold gets you another 2 mana points and drinking coragons special beer took me up to 36, then only 8 LP spent on mana ant two dead shadow worriors, Easy when you know how.

Right now I am in chapter 2, level 13. It is really easy so far. I haven't tried to kill an orc yet, but I cleaned out dragonsnapper's nest without a scratch. It takes 2 shots to kill a dragonsnapper with an ash bow and dex = 70.

I like bow better so far in the game. I like its faster firing speed. I wiped entire goblin cave without a scratch.

Yea, i was really disappointed at how easily trolls died..It's kinda dampens the gameplay that u can have a high DMG dex wep so easily. Also, its annoying how u can kill almost anything if u have patience..as a lvl 6 guildless with 40 streangth I killed the two undead shadow warriors and took the dragon slicer..

Progress update. I am in chapter 4 now. The game has been a breeze so far, but I am having difficulties with multiple skeletons. Stone golem is tough with a 1 hander. I have not invested a single point in strength so far. It takes many many swipes to bring down a stone golem. I cannot kill a demon with a bow. That sucks. You do too little damage. I can forsee difficulties when you get to the secret library. You have to kill 3 demons there.

Other than that, the game is easy. I am a little bored right now. I probably won't continue with this game. Anyways, I think it's possible to play a ranger. I still enjoy playing a warrior more. You get to dodge, block, swing, and fight multiple enemies. For a ranger you just shoot and shoot and shoot. I get really bored.

One problem I have with this game is that you cannot be a sniper. When you sneak around, and kill one enemy, the rest of the pack knows exactly where you are and charge at you right away. That's very unrealistic.
