Take-2's CEO Named "Worst of 2005" @ Gamespot

MarketWatch.com has named Paul Eibler, Take Two Interactive's CEO, as the worst of 2005. <blockquote><em>"[Eibeler] has done such a poor job getting his arms around the company that Take-Two has missed its own earnings guidance for multiple quarters," said Greenberg. "So far this year it has sliced earnings guidance by more than 60 percent to a range of 53 cents to 56 cents a share." Predictably, Greenberg cited the "Hot Coffee" scandal that got Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas pulled from store shelves for several months and "setbacks on the rollouts of newer games"--presumably the delay of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion until 2006.</em></blockquote> There is a bit more to read at <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/theelderscrollsivoblivion/news.html?sid=6140903" target="_blank">Gamespot</a> or you can head to <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/news/archivedStory.asp?archive=true&dist=ArchiveSplash&siteid=mktw&guid=%7B3C3ACCDE%2DCC12%2D4D1C%2DBB71%2D0483577E5CD7%7D&returnURL=%2Fnews%2Fstory%2Easp%3Fguid%3D%7B3C3ACCDE%2DCC12%2D4D1C%2DBB71%2D0483577E5CD7%7D%26siteid%3Dmktw%26dist%3D%26archive%3Dtrue%26param%3Darchive%26garden%3D%26minisite%3D" target="_blank">Marketwatch.com</a>.

So far this year it has sliced earnings guidance by more than 60% to a range of 53 cents to 56 cents a share, after the company's hot-selling game, Grand Theft Auto, was given the dreaded "adult' rating by the video software industry's rating group. The company has since suffered a series of setbacks on the rollouts of newer games -- a perennial problem at Take-Two that appears to be getting worse.

In the end, the buck stops with the guy at the top and at Take-Two that would be Paul Eibeler.

We had a bad harvest this year, so we burned the village chieftain for failing to win favor with the gods.

They also don't have much to do with Oblivion since they are just a copublisher and are just helping out Bethesda with the publishing and distribution of Oblivion.
