The idol is on top of the thing that the shamans was preying to. Use telekinesis.

If you have the idol in your inventory, then you are allowed to pull the lever that will raise the gate.

i know i need the idol to get back inside the temple, but how can i get it without the orcs attacking me, everytime i use magic near them they try to kill me. |

There is no way to get it without them attacking. Unless you cheat and insert it.
