Weird problem with Shrike..help!

HI!
I am replaying GOthic after having tested the Gothic 2 demo

Made me eager again.
Anyway, I have a problem with Shrike. I try to get his hut as usual by bashing him with arrows. However they kill him everytime. Also I can't hurt him at all using any other weapon.. ?? Somekind of bug? Or am I doing it in some kind of order the game doesn't like? Anyone experienced this? I am lvl 2. I havn't use any skillpoints but am using the two dex rings and the bonebow from the old mine. Help!

I know I can just kill him but I wanna just beat him up! *mumbles*

If your tooo low u couldn't hurt him get a lil strong and get scars sword or a berskards word thats what i use or u can shoot him only once with arrow then try knockin him down

You're probably too weak to damage him - melee damage is calculated Strength+Weapon-Armor. Bows use Dexterity only, and bows and crossbows always kill. Looks like you ought to invest some skill points in strength.

Ahh thanks! GUess I had gone up in strength last time I played. Just must have forgot!
