Question about upgrading sword skill

When I solved the game I had:
Trained Lockpicking
Max Crossbow
Max 2h Weapon
Base strength 142 (108)
Base Dexterity 104 (100)
(unmodified with artifacts)
Magic Level 2

Best 1h weapon must be Scar's sword. I got it pretty early. You can beat up (but not kill) scar without others attacking you.
