Can't someone help!
The ini files are in your gothicsystem directory.
Also,
open the VDFS.CFG file in your Gothic main directory.
If the contents look like this:
[VDFS]
$:data*.VDF,255
data*.VDF
data*.MOD
[END]
Then remove the 4th line (data*.MOD)
save and restart your computer and try again. |

Ok, although you can manipulate the VDFS config file, this is not the approved solution from Piranha Bytes... Their instructions are: Use GothicStarter to start Gothic, as well as to start any Mods. Please try this, rather than have the whole issue of Mods look more complicated than it is. If there's a problem starting Gothic from within GothicStarter, please let me know.
@Ariakis
Compiled scripts such as Gothic.dat cannot be 'uncompiled'. PB supply the source code however (.d files) with the Mod Dev Kit. VisiGothic has its own Gothic.dat, compiled from my .d files with the Spacer... Does that answer the question? |

Alistair, could you please explain to me, excactly how to execute a ZEN ?
I open the spacer, open my ZEN.. fine
Now i open the GothicStarter, choose gothic 1.08
now i have both spacer and gothic running, and then it comes up with that error.
if i start gothic without having the spacer running, gothic disappears, i can only hear the audio from the game, and i have to close GothicMod.exe via the taskmanager (since it is not displayed in the taskbar).
what is the exact procedure i need to follow, to run my zen ?

You've got a few options. To do it properly, you should package up any new files as part of a Mod, using gothicVDFS.exe, and its Mod-Builder option.
So, you'd create a folder structure like:
MyMod_workdataworldsworld.zen,
and you'd use the VDFS app to produce a mod from this.
The first thing you have to do though, is produce a .ini file for your mod, which should live in the system folder. Try and put one together based on GothicGame.ini or VisiGothic.ini. This will tell GothicStarter to get its data from your mod, before looking at Gothic's own data.
Good luck,
A.
(I'm doing this from memory, so the details could be wrong... but this is basically the best way to do things. There are slightly easier options, but this is the most reliable.) |
