graphics adaptor for Morrowind

Looks like Morrowind won't run on my good old Voodoo3/16MB adaptor (which I purchased to be able to play ultima 9).

So I'm looking for recommendations for a new adaptor.

Absolute requirement is that the card should have no cooling fan. I don't want any noisy fans in my bedroom. Which card is the best?

Swing over to newegg.com and browse through the video card section. They have an option listed with each card "See it", perhaps you can find one you can live with.

All the Geforce cards have fans.-(that i know of)

Only cheapest and slowest card have no fans.

GForce2 MX400 usually have no fan.
GForce4 MX420 also usually have no fan.

Both are slow cards, very similar to each other. Only GForce4 is little bit faster and more expensive. Note that you will not gain any "new generation effect" with GForce4 though it has 4 in its name, it is more similar to 2nd than to 4th generation of GForce video cards.

Does that mean that you won't get any water effects with GF4 MX?

Leadtek gf3ti200 has a big heatsink, so it is possible to take a risk and use it without a fan, or replace it with a 80mm papst ngl connected to 5 volts.

Yes, you will have no water effects with GForce4 MX, it doesnt support pixel shaders.

I do not know if it is possible to use GForce3 Ti 200 without fan. It could be possible, but it will make life-time of this card much shorter.

Water effects you need:

Any Geforce3 (original, Ti200, Ti500)
Or
Geforce4 (4200, 4400, 4600)

The Geforce4 MX is basically just a high power Geforce2, the name is VERY misleading.

IMO, it's ok to have a geforce4 that has significant features not present in other geforce4's....

However it seems very deceptive to have a geforce4 that does not have features present in the geforce 3!
