No offense taken.
quote:
I understand that it's a slow time for crpg releases. It's just that there have been several Harbinger ads on the site and across from the ads were several news items about Harbinger. It seemed more than coincedental.

In fact, it ISN'T coincidential . It's on purpose, but not on our side, but on the side of the Harbinger distributor. He ordered the campaign to support the release of the game, and since it was release time, there were a lot of noteworthy articles floating around the net. So: yes, Harbinger had a lot of coverage, and as long as reviews and articles are posted elsewhere, we will report about it.

See it this way: the moment we can be bought, our credibility is ruined. This is nothing we want, and it is nothing potential advertisers want, either. Most publisher are intelligent enough to know that.

Harbinger has received the most negative news of any game Ive seen on rpg.dot. It has gotten a lot of news but at least half very negative.
I see an opposite bias almost than you do.

It still a nice game... is it released yet? I haven't seen it in stores, but I haven't checked for awhile.

well, stamar - we are not censoring news, and in 99% of all cases, we are not commenting them. Thus, you are right: a part of the news about Harbinger are not too positive, but this is just because there are some negative reviews out there (range, though, is from very negative to enthusiastic).

Okay, okay, thats it... I changed my mind about this game, if you get easily frustrated, DON'T get this game, its one of the hardest game I have ever played, its starts out easy... but its pretty annoying when 40 enemies are surrounding you, you're way is blocket, you can't hit the enemy becouse they are hitting you... and, if you don't like running back to the beginning of each level (can take about 10-20 minutes) just becouse your FULL inventory of health potions are out, DON'T get this game... I would give it like 30%...

I can't belive that I changed my avatar to a picture from the game, have to change that...

What really surprises me is the range of ratings seen in reviews so far. The lowest I can recall is in the low 40s, the highest is 86%.

As I see it, it's the love/hate thing for Diablo2 which mostly shines through here. Deny it or not this game is 90% like Diablo 2. Exact same play style, Item management, character development, combat, interface, the only really different thing, is that the play world is a Sci-fi one. Personally I got no love/hate thing for Harbinger or Diablo 2 for that matter, but If I have to critisize Harbinger from my experiences with the demo, I can only confirm "Rawis" frustrations, about the "long" walk back and forth to the merchants. Many of the teleporters seems only to teleport you back to a previous area, and you have to walk through this also back to the other teleporter which brings you back to another previous area until you after a long walk reach the merchant.
However if you look close enough, you can find an item storage scattered around in the world in which you can store a lot of items, and somehow these item storages seems to be connected, so no matter which one you choose, you can always see all you stored items.
But maybe in the full version, you will be able to teleport directly back and forth to a merchant, and the problem will be solved.
As for the harder combats, I also got the impression that the resistance did intensify quite steep, however I do like the challenge, so it's not really a bad thing in my book, and besides I discovered that the use of the right accessories, actual can make a big difference in the combat, so it's true, that the game demand more than just point & click on an opponent, if you want to avoid frustration.
