A couple Spells to clarify

Just looking for some descriptions for a couple spells....

1. shield self 50 pts-- what does this refer to? does it shield physical/ magicka/ or all damaging effects?

2. detect key -- why would you need this? does it actually detect a key?

thanks

I'm not sure about the Shield but the Detect key refers to after you use the spell pop up your map and if there is a key near you it will be highlighted on your map.

You can find answers on your manual, but here goes anyway:

Shield: This effect creates a magical shield around the subject's entire body. The spell adds its magnitude to the subject's Armor Rating.

Detect Key: The caster of this effect can detect keys; their locations appear on the map as symbols. The effect's magnitude is the range in feet from the caster that keys are detected.

As for why you would need detect key, you might need it if you had no ability in picking locks or using the "Open" spell. It could possibly save time finding where the key for a door or chest was in a dungeon. Can't say I ever used it though. I used to use detect creature to look for fish when I was starting and they used to chomp me up like Jaws.
