How useful did you find the manual? / How much did you use it?
I just bought the game at ebay and it came without a manual. I haven't played the origial Gothic, will I be able to play this without a manual?

The manual mostly just listed a few characters, a few weapons, and the spells for mages, etc.... As well as a small walkthrough at the end. It didn't say anything that couldn't be found out in the game though, so I wouldn't say you're missing anything by not having the manual. 
The walkthrough's at gamefaqs (one of them atleast) says just as much, if not more than the manual anyways. |

You should be fine. Check out the faq here on the boards for G1 and G2 and you will know more than is offered in the manual. There is a readme file on the cd you can open and it has some info you might want to know. Otherwise you should be fine. Read the boards here and I think anything you might need will be here, or just post. Have fun. It is a great game.

well i actually opened the manual onze when i buyed the game but i didnt use anything in it in the game ehe i found everything out without manual actually i almost never use manuals in games i check the controls and i get the point allready there  |

only useful thing in it was the controls page, and that would be quite useful to someone that hasnt played a gothic game before but like they said it can be found in walkthroughs anyway |

There are a lot of faults in the manual in, say, the armor and weapons section so it offers a little help to get started but is's more fun to experience everything yourself. |

Thanks for your input. Now I just have to repair my other PC so I can play the game and find out why Gothic is so praised here on RPGDot.

G2 is last yearīs best RPG from a hardcore gamer perspective. Just donīt think it will open up to you without a fight.

I think the manual will help me understand alchemy, something that was absent in Gothic. Other than that, I don't use it that much. However, it could be very useful to someone who has never played Gothic.
