I finished the game. I have to say that overall I really enjoyed the game. I think it was a bit too easy but the story was compelling enough to overlook most of the deficiencies (like bugs).

You need to move ore from the merchant's stock over to the middle row in the trade screen. The amount of ore you move from his stock should be equal to or less than the value of the items you are trad ...
