The Pirates of the Burning Sea Community Website is celebrating two years of the community's devotion to the upcoming seafaring MMORPG. A recently-posted history of the community details the evolution of the website and the community's involvement with the game's developers.
It all started in January, 2003, when Flying Lab Software sent out press releases about their upcomming PC Game called Pirates of the Burning Sea. Originally, Pirates of the Burning Sea was to be an MMORPG located in a imaginary world inspired by the Caribbean of the 18th century. The name of the game came from the sun setting on the sea in the evening, making the ocean look as if it were on fire. But soon after they decided to use the real 18th century Carribean and take a more realistic approach to history.
