I don't know how you feel about it, but I certainly can't get enough previews of Morrowind lately :-). Here's another one at Maximum 3D, and yet another snippet to feed you with good news:
To say the game world is massive would be an understatement. I remember the first day I played Ultima Online. I was lost, wandering in the forest for hours, looking for something, anything. Morrowind is big like that, only the game world is not a desolate plain of empty tiles waiting for orcs to spawn. Every object in the game has been placed by hand, no random terrain generators here. Checking the press kit, it shows 316,042 hand placed items in the world. Think about that for a minute or two. This attention to detail shows everywhere your character goes. Enter a tavern, and there are bottles strewn about, sacks of goods behind the counter, patrons chattering to each other. Nearly every imaginable item in the game is interactive. Want that vase for your personal collection? Take it. Books are all unique, individual items. Read them when you can. Wandering through the forests, I noticed that I could collect roots and flowers. Though I had no idea initially, I figured one should not travel without a good supply of Corkbulb roots, so started filling my pack with an assortment of herbs and roots. There is good reason behind this madness, as most RPG fans will know. Spells need all kinds of weird ingredients, so grab what you can in the wild for free. |
