As the score came together, we discussed replacing some of the digital instruments with recordings of live musicians to give the music more of a performance feeling. There was no way we could afford to hire a real orchestra, but Andrew & Colin had the answer. They recruited two musicians, a trumpet player and a french horn player, from the New Haven Symphony, and brought them into the tracking studio to record the brass parts. The musicians, Ken and Sue, did great work, and the guys then layered in the resulting recordings with the sampled brass to give it both orchestral richness and human finesse.
