This game has many puzzles that you need to solve before you can go onto a new area. The puzzles start out on the logical side, with the answers found easily, to becoming more difficult, some needing the player to travel to the opposite end of the house to find the correct item. To continue onto a new area, you must solve a puzzle. These can range from finding the right combination, to putting the correct seal in an area to open a door, and complicated slider puzzles.

This is a basic point and click adventure game. The cursors include Sherlock's pipe that you use to move him throughout the game, a magnifying glass for when items can be examined more closely, and a wrench when it's possible to interact with an object. Moving throughout the game can be a little difficult due to the predetermined camera views; for example, when you want click on a door to move Sherlock, instead of looking at the door that you clicked on, you are looking at the wall to the right of the door. As you play the game, you can get used to this, but it is very confusing at first.

The voice of Holmes, done by John Bell, and the other characters are well done and interesting. Sherlock gives clues or his own personal observations when you pick up an item. Be sure to listen to these, some of them can be helpful. The music fit well into the game. It wasn't distracting or overwhelming.

In all the game is enjoyable, if sometimes difficult. This is the perfect game for players that enjoy puzzle-solving games as in Myst or enjoy Sherlock Holmes games like Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo.
